The Four-Week Shred: Your Blueprint for Achieving a Summer Body

It’s the time of year when planning for summer vacations, lake days and sundresses is common.

If we are honest, almost all of us are guilty of looking in the mirror and seeing more flaws and signs of aging than beauty. So why not consider a quick four-week shred to help you feel more confident when you’re on the beach this summer? 

A blueprint for increased fat loss, improved muscle tone, and time efficiency definitely has appeal to women who are already swimming in a long to-do list.   

There are three flaws with those quick-fix four-week shreds to help you get your “summer body” back.

  1. They perpetuate the narrative you are broken and need to be “fixed”.
  2. Blueprints don’t actually teach you how to think and respond, aka empower you.
  3. The results won’t last unless you make lifestyle changes past the four weeks.

You don’t need a quick fix because you’re not broken.

You have subconsciously been imprinted from a very young age that a large part of the feminine value is how she looks and how old she is.

It’s a billion-dollar business and it’s a double standard.

GQ magazine put out an article in 2012, “Aged to Perfection: 12 Celebrities That Have Gotten Better With Age”.

The list of names included George Clooney, Andre Agassi, Daniel Craig, and  Justine Timberlake.

Pictures reveal crows feet, grey hair, bald heads, and laugh lines, but not a single woman.

And definitely not a woman who has “let herself go” by not practicing standard self-care to keep her appearance up.

Blueprints keep you reliant on someone else’s knowledge.

Blueprints sound good at first.

“Tell me what to do and I will do it”.

But what happens when you don’t have someone telling you what to do?

When the four weeks are over and you haven’t done the internal work of getting to know yourself or what YOU really want and need?

The appeal of blueprints is deceiving because they appear helpful at first, but the truth is they don’t teach you how to assess your situation and respond accordingly. They also assume you are living the same life with the same factors as every other woman, and you know that‘s not true.

Blueprints keep you continuously searching for answers and rules to follow.

Your brain likes routine and finds comfort in routine.

What happens when your four weeks are over and you don’t have someone enforcing the blueprint?

Your brain is your strongest muscle and until YOU have addressed the deeper layers that form your beliefs, habits, and routines you will revert back to what your mind and body knows best.

For better or worse, your nervous system is designed for survival.

Part of survival is to conserve energy.

Part of conserving energy is doing what the brain knows best and is therefore easiest. 

It takes conscious work and energy to change your mindset, rewrite your habits, and therefore change your routines.

Until you address those deeper layers, no blueprint is going to have lasting results.

Next year you are going to be looking for another diet, another blueprint, another four-week shred.  

If you take anything away from this blog, I hope you realize these quick fixes and blueprints are a scam that prey on the insecurities of women. Instead of helping, they perpetuate feelings of inadequacy by not providing any actual solutions. It is only building a codependent relationship where something must be wrong with you because none of them work long-term.

Instead…

You’d be better served surrounded by women going through a similar journey of evaluating their habits and routines and putting in the energy of rewriting limiting self-beliefs with a reality that aligns better with the future they want.
